Frying Fish: My Mom Calls It "Flying Fish"

I don't think I've actually been here before...but it was okay. It's in the same vicinity as the dim sum restaurant Noble Court.
Here's the complimentary egg drop soup; it's quite concentrated, unlike other egg drop soups that I've had.

When you order a dish, you can also choose whether you want white rice or fried rice. Fried rice is better :))) The vegetables are lightly stir fried with garlic and sesame oil.

Food with my Fam and "Fam": Reunion, Birthdays, and a Movie

This trip is a reunion with my some of my high school buddies :) First, I went to Kukai (again) because Sankiupo has cello lesson. I tried the tempura don for the first time; it was just as I expected, lol. Tempura with tempura sauce and rice.
On a side note, I wonder why we say tempura, when the Japanese pronunciation is tenpura.

Afterwards, my friend picked me up and I tried Lot No. 3 for the first time. At first, I was confused by the title, because I thought my friend said she was going to park in lot number three or something...hahah. Below is a $3 appetizer. It's really easy to make; it's just french onion dip and potato chips. The four of us couldn't even finish this, lol.

We came in during happy hour, so the sliders were $4 each. They're REALLY small, so I ordered two. I should've gotten the vegetarian ones, because they had more stuff inside (should've gotten my money's worth).

Before we went to the movie theater, we stopped by to celebrate everyone's birthday (except for mine since I'm a November baby) at H-Mart's Tous les Jours. The cakes there are so yummmyyyy. I liked mine the best (peach crepe cake)

We wanted to light candles and blow them out, but we couldn't find a lighter. I still have these candles, hahaha.
All the cakes are soft and delicate. They're not too sweet either. 10/10 :)))
Starting from the top left and clockwise: tiramisu, sweet potato, peach crepe, and strawberry.

We also got some movie snacks. The blue one below was pretty tasteless...we also got a strawberry flavored one that was just as tasteless.
I got burnt rice candy and icing covered snacks. They were pretty cheap, and they weren't too sweet.

Adventures with Fatmine's Family: Food Trucks!!!

One day, I was dropped off at a Microsoft User Study...and then my mom told me that I had several hours to burn before I went home. Soooo...Fatmine lives 5 minutes away from the Microsoft building that I was at :D Her family and I went to eat at a food truck gathering <3

Fatmine got this beef sandwich from the Peasant Food truck, The sandwich is eaten by dipping it into the soup that they provide.

I had an Indian kathi roll from the Roll Ok truck. I'm not sure what it means, but it's basically a wrap with egg, and then your choice of filling. I got vegetables and potatoes. Although it looks a bit questionable, it tastes awesome; they put Indian spices and seasoning.

Fatmine's sister got salmon soft tacos from the Fish Basket. When she was squeezing the lime, the juices kept dripping out, hahaha.

Fatmine's mommy went to Choptix and got pulled pork burgers with fries. The fries were surprisingly good; they had wasabi mayonnaise (I don't like wasabi) and bonito flakes. The pull pork and wasabi mayonnaise is an interesting fusion of Asian and Western.

Chopstix also sold popular watermelon slushies. I think there was too much ice, but it was still sweet and refreshing x__x They make it with real watermelon.

For dessert, Fatmine's mommy got these adorable donuts and some caramel coffee.

Frankie's Pizza and Pasta

This visit is only my second time here...a long time ago, my dad decided not to come back here because it was kind of pricey...? It's really not, haha. Plus, the portions are superb :D

One thing before I move on; apparently, I've been spelling my brother's nickname wrong...it's Sankiupo instead of Santiupo. Hokkien is so confusing.

They also serve Italian sodas that come with one free refill. You can mix syrups too, yum yum.
Santiupo got two orders of vanilla and orange, which basically tastes like orange cream. I got vanilla and cherry vanilla. These drinks really fill you up...I could barely finish my first one x__x I gave the other to Santiupo, lol.

They serve complimentary bread sticks (the usual, at any Italian restaurant). I have to say, the bread is quite heavy...so don't eat too much of it if you want to enjoy your entree.

Santiupo got a lasagna, my mom got spaghetti, and I got a vegetarian calzone. I did not expect my calzone to be so big O_O Even though most of the inside is air, I only ate half of it because the filling was quite rich...it was really good too.

Swish: Shabushabu :P

My dad came here a few times before. I really like hot pot, so I'm happy that we tried this place :)))
Look how cute the heater is. Heehee.

I got kimchi broth with Japanese ramen noodles and with the vegetable order (because kimchi is the best). The amount of food that they give is really no joke; you'll feel really full after eating, even though most of it is liquid and vegetables. To me, the kimchi broth was pretty spicy, but it was worth it <3 cooking your food is also pretty rewarding.

My in-law got chicken broth with a meat order and with noodles.

My vegetables :P

My dad got the Chinese herbal broth, which is the broth with goji berries. I think Sankiupo got the mustard broth, which is actually a broth made with mustard greens, not the tangy mustard seeds. After we finished, Sankiupo said he got tired of his broth quite quickly, lol. I liked mine :DDD

Red Robin: #fail

To celebrate the end of the music camp that I attended, we went to Red Robin in Bellevue. After I went to Tipsy Cow, all the other burgers are just not the same, haha; Red Robin was never bad, but the quality between Tipsy Cow and Red Robin is outrageously noticeable. I usually order a refillable strawberry lemonade and share it with my brother, but the purple lemonade caught my eye. It's basically purple colored pear syrup that's mixed with lemonade. At least its refillable.

Apparently they got my order wrong and the waiter thought I asked for a burger with egg and bacon...Unfortunately, they had to throw it away. They have some kind of policy...it was a waste of food :(

At least I got my garden burger in the end.

Home Adventures: A(n) (Un)Successful Ochazuke

My computer is having issues, so there won't be recent food adventures...I'm still behind, but after about a week, I hope this issue gets solved.

I've seen and tried ochazuke before; it's ridiculously easy to make too. Sorry it doesn't look that good (just blame Santiupo).

Ochazuke is like a parallel of oatmeal; it's common to eat this for breakfast in Japan. The Japanese use leftover rice and put it in tea. I boiled some green tea, and then added vegetables, sesame seasoning, ginger, seaweed, and (most importantly) sesame oil. It tasted pretty legit to me. Next time, I'll have to make it look more appetizing, lol.

What The Pho

I've only been to this place twice; the first time that I went was when I was still in junior high school. Now that I'm back, they've added A LOT of items on the menu. The picture above shows the menu and a rough number of selections that they offer.

Since my dad wasn't very hungry, he got some rolls with peanut sauce (I think it's from the appetizer menu).

I got the Banh Mi Tau Hu, which is basically a Vietnamese sub with tofu and vegetables. I kind of like these subs; it's a good fusion between Western and Asian. I think the main ingredient that stands out is the mayonnaise; if that weren't in the sub, it would taste pretty bland.

My Reward for Returning a $7000 Bow

During a music camp, I found a cello bow on the ground, thinking it was from a child that left it behind....but it turned out to be a $7000 bow from a cello coach x___x She accidentally left it on the stand, and then some children accidentally knocked it down. Although I didn't want to accept it, these chocolates were the reward for returning her bow.

They were daaaamn good. I walked into QFC the other day, and they were the most expensive chocolates there, lol.

Santiupo didn't like any of them because they were dark chocolate, and the golden one had almonds. They had three types: Dark, extra dark, and almond. They also had a coat of powder to prevent them from melting when it gets warm. Because of that, it takes a while for it to melt in your mouth...but when it does, it's so good. I only had 3 of them though; they began to disappear D:

Dinner and S'mores at my "In-laws' "

My brother and I were invited to go orienteering :) it was pretty fun... Running around a park...

lost. Haha just kidding, we were fine.

I think after all of that running in the rain, we deserved some good food. This is from my "in laws" heheheh.

They own a bunch of animals, including this cute parrot.
For dessert....S'MORES HAHAHA. I like to burn my marshmallows :P

Sometimes I burn them to a crisp....heheh

I also spent a few hours burning random things, including this small log. I got bitten by 999 mosquitoes... And I'm pretty sure I'm a pyromaniac, no big deal.
